Mitsouko by Guerlain, created in 1919, is often considered one of the most complex and beautiful fragrances ever made: its chypre accord around peach, oakmoss and sweet spices generates a depth and ambiguity that has never been equalled. It changes on the skin over hours, reveals new layers with every breath, and possesses that mystery of great works of art one never fully finishes discovering. Finding a similar fragrance is a significant olfactive challenge, as the chypre family has been largely reformulated under IFRA restrictions regarding oakmoss.
